On Hold Projects
I put these projects on hold for various reasons.
Python this project is part of my learning objective for 2024. I put this on hold because with AI there really isn’t a need to program anymore. Plus I have very little reason to program in my retired life. There are way better uses of my time. But I’ll keep it here for a little longer to see if I change my mind.
Solar Power this project is about living independent from the system. It’s a huge decision and this page documents my research and my ultimate conclusion. I put this project on hold because it’s not something I’m likely to do in the next 2 years.

Restored Rocking Chairs I restored these rocking chairs for mom for her new place.
Santa Fe Front End Noise this project became urgent because of the safety implications.
Golf Cart Upgrade is a project where I am upgrading the standard lead acid batteries with a Lifepo4 lithium battery and upgrading from 36v to 48v.

Mom’s Closet this project was a result of flooding at Granny’s house. I simply removed the wet carpet and installed Luxury Vinyl Title. I’m going to repeat this project in our master bedroom this summer.
Tile Floor Update this project was a spur of the moment decision after looking at my tile and realizing how bad it made my floors look. It was simple to do.
Planter Boxes this project is about starting a vegetable garden. I fabricated raised planter boxes and irrigation necessary to grow that garden.
Electric Fireplace Repair this project was interesting because there was so little information available to figure out how to repair the system.
Pressure Washed Sidewalks this project is about the work I did to clean up my patio space and sidewalks and fixing the pressure washer.
Irrigation Leak this project was an emergency situation at mom’s house. One of the sprinkler zones blew out.
Air Fryer Repair this project was the result of a $1 part failing in my expensive air fryer.
Lake Retaining Wall this is my 3rd attempt to erect and maintain a shoreline retaining wall
Puzzle Table this was a Christmas gift for my daughter made from an old moving chest thrown on the burn pile
Shoe Rack this was a Christmas gift for my daughter made from simple hardware store supplies

Dock Reno this was my first project to undertake as a retired guy. Unfortunately this was also the summer from hell and portions of the project are unfinished. I plan to pick this up again this spring and finish the job.
Front Door Refresh this is a project that was low priority when I was working but a real eye sore now that I have the time to care about it.
Slab Leak this was a major project that took just about every skill I had to master. It taught me the limits of my abilities and reinforced my DIY focus.

2013 Ford Focus this is a project that immensely impacted my daughter’s life. The car broke and I was told the transmission needed to be replaced. It didn’t, read on to find out why.
