Cancun visit

Cancun visit

I just got back from Secrets Riviera Cancun. This was our first time booking through the UVC website.  I expected to have issues with the reservations but we didn’t, everything was in order. We even got a room upgrade. The resort was really nice and connected to a Breathless resort, to which we had access.  WE needed too on the first day because the wind from the ocean was so strong it was like a sand storm. We spend most of the day in the protection of the building using the pool area from Breathless.  If you want a party scene, that’s the place to hang out.  We booked on the preferred side so we spent the rest of our vacation around the amazing pool.  Nice cool water but the bottom and the sides of the pool are really rough, like coarse sandpaper.  The bali beds are great, especially if you get one with the extra support from the plywood under the cushions.  David ran that pool like a champ and our drink runners Urbano and Cruz kept us really happy.  To cool down we slipped into the air conditioned preferred lounge and watched Louis the master of the bar sling drinks like a machine.

The restaurants were pretty good.  We especially liked Spumante for their juicy filets and Picante for the bold flavors. Thanks Guillerno and Eric. Your dinner service was excellent. We didn’t really care too much for Silk City, it just didn’t deliver. Rosewater is perfect for lunch and breakfast.  A shout out to Yasina, Alberto and David for taking care of us.

Make sure to bring anything you think you’ll need.  We had to make a purchase at the resort store for something we forgot and it was about 10 times the price it should have been.  The guy next to use spent $18 on a bottle of tylenol.  We didn’t even bother to look at anything else in there. I guess since we were a captive audience, the prices reflected that.

Our room was upgraded to an ocean view which was really nice at night.  The room was almost comfortable.  The bed was fine but we didn’t really have anywhere to hang out.  Looking back at the pictures it showed a chair in the room but ours didn’t have one.  The couch is really more like a church pew built into the wall, not something you want to hang out on for more than putting your shoes on or taking a phone call.  The AC worked very well. Oh, also if you don’t speak spanish you might want to bring an extra HDMI code to Stream your own entertainment to the TV.  It was a large screen LG model but didn’t have any smart abilities like casting or internet browsing.

Lastly we didn’t actually get in the ocean on this trip.  As I mentioned the wind was always blowing and that created a lot of wave action.  It was a red flag day the entire trip.  Not to mention the water didn’t look inviting because of all the seaweed.  It sort of made the water look brown.  We felt the pool was a much better option.
