Tree down
Tree down
It’s spring time in Texas and this is the part of the year where weather is dicey. Usually the crazy weather brings in large hail, high winds and the occasional tornado. We had a severe thunderstorms over a few days around the week of April 5th. While my house and yard were spared of any storm damage my neighbors can’t say the same thing. Two doors down had a raging river through their yard as the drainage system was completely overwhelmed with a flash flood. They lost a lot of landscaping they had just finished. Another neighbor down the cove had a tree fall onto his house and punch a hole through his roof.
I discovered I was not entirely sparred the other day when driving past my storage business. Along the back side of the units in the area of the utilities easement I spotted a fallen tree. The tree is actually in the neighbor’s land but it’s top landed in the cleared easement space. I like to keep this land clear for the line of site to the back of the units.
Yesterday I cleared the space. I think it probably took me 3 – 4 hours but only thanks to Gregg who lent me his chainsaw. It is a gas powered chainsaw and it cut through that oak like butter. The hardest part about the job was the actual clean up of the debris. I really need to get that wood chipper working or buy a new one so that it is easier to take care of the limbs. I’ll need to add that to my projects list. Now that the hard part is over today I’ll be loading up my truck with the firewood for a friend of mine in the neighborhood.
