Air fryer abruptly stopped working last night.

We use our air fryer a lot. It’s so much more convenient to cook certain types of foods in the air fryer rather than firing up the old oven. I use the air fryer to cook corn tortillas, reheat certain foods or cook sausages. I pretty much use the appliance daily. We have the Acuma by Whall 13 QT air fryer with 2 shelves and a rotisserie function. They advertise the ability to rotisserie a chicken but it’s really too small to cook anything larger than a Cornish hen. A normal American chicken won’t fit.

A new one of these appliances will run about $150. You can pick up a used one for about $50. I think I can repair this one. I found a video from Fanboyfilms2 and it looks very similar to my model and the symptoms are also similar. During cooking we were at about the last couple of minutes of the cooking count down and the appliance just suddenly shut off. The problem I’m reading is that they thermal fuse blows which bricks the appliance. My Dryer had this problem a year or so ago and the thermal fuse was the problem and it was easy to replace. It was just beyond a maintenance panel. Not this appliance. The thermal fuse is embedded deep within the many layers of the machine.

I won’t go into details on this post because I’ll do a whole project page on the repair of this appliance. I’ll go through the process of accessing the fuse, replacing it and putting the machine back together. If I’m right, I’ll be able to fix this one for about $1 and a couple of hours of my time.

UPDATE 09/02/2024: I was able to fix mine. I believe I spent about 4 hours and $6 on the project. Read about it here.
