It’s been a week
I’m back making an update post. It’s been a week. About a week ago I got a call from mom about a leaking water heater and the damage it did to her house. I immediately went up to her house to help her out. I was able to restore her closet and if you’d like to read that post you can follow this link. That took some time away from my regular scheduled life. Lol, I’m really happy that I have the time to be able to do that. In fact time is our most valuable asset. I often think back about the time I’ve wasted and could have been productive. That was actually a driving force for during last year’s reflection. I tend to do that at the end of a year and sort of reassess my life and direction. I knew I wanted to be more productive in 2024.
What does being more productive look and feel like? I’m retired so I can choose to spend my time however I like and sometimes that includes “unproductive” time like playing video games. I don’t think that’s a bad thing but I do think I shouldn’t just play video games because I’m bored. So really the productivity comes from controlling my boredom. So I choose then to fill my time with things that I want to do. Posting on my blog is another example of something I said I was going to do more of in 2024. Its like a journal but its public. Today I wanted to journal about last week and getting back into a rhythm.
Since I last posted we have also had some drama with our POA. Out of the blue the builder exercised his super vote to completely upend the status quo. He fired three prominent members of our community who were directors of the board, including the president. Needless to say this has worried our neighborhood wondering why it was done and what that means for our properties. There was some talk about building multifamily structures here that would probably drop the value of the properties making the Wilderness less quite and luxurious. I guess we will see what happens and what sort of control we can take back.
I also wanted to note that I did complete the learning course I signed up for about Financial Planning for Young Adults. Its not that I learned a lot, but it did rekindle my thinking about finances and investing. It was a goal for the year to learn new stuff. It was free as well. I found that class on Coursera.org.
So that wraps up the past week and puts me on a new road of productivity. As an example, today I planned out the next flooring project I’m going to do. I think just being mindful of productivity is helpful. I tend to get more done.
