Summer and its affect on goals

Summer and its affect on goals

As you can see today is July 11th. My last post was made a month ago on Jun 10th. It’s been a whirlwind of activity since then. I have visited mom, put on a 4th of July show, had 2 MRIs done on my wrist and of course mowed, mowed, mowed. I’ve come to the conclusion that the Summer season isn’t a great time to work on certain types of goals. For example, I haven’t found the time to work on Python programming in months. I find it hard to even make a daily post.

Over the past 30 days I have really been feeling like a leaf blowing in the wind. Days just sort of come and go without a real sensation of time passing. It’s more than 1/2 way through the year! What do I have to show for it? I have a garden that isn’t performing well. I was hoping for a better outcome but I’m going to have to pin the results on rookie mistakes. I haven’t even fished out the 2nd set of raised beds. There are a few steps still necessary to take to finish it up.

I also have a beautiful back patio space. I pressure washed the back side of the house and began to touch up and repaint portions of the house. Refreshing the trim has really made the colors pop. The doors where especially difficult to paint because of the muntins and mullions (the horizontal and vertical bars across the window surface. I had to use a small brush to paint along the edges of the glass. I used a larger brush for the rest of the door. I’ll need to go back and touch up the base paint soon so it all looks fresh.

Just a few days ago we weathered hurricane Beryl. We had it easy only having wind and rain. It was nice rain but the wind was much higher than we usually have. We didn’t experience any damage but there were a few downed trees in the neighborhood. It rained the whole day. I was shocked a category 1 hurricane would still have as much energy as Beryl did 250 miles from Houston.

These are just some of the things that’s been happening. I think I need to be honest with myself and realize that early Summer should probably not be the time to focus on new goals. There is simply too much demand of my time from other aspects of life. Maybe it will be more conclusive to work on goals later in Summer when it’s hot as Hell’s porch.
